🎤Interview
Hi Honey, Welcome to the Big Bang Launch Newsletter. Could you tell us a bit about yourself and your journey to Locofy?
I was working in a full-time job as a product manager and built and shipped a couple of apps including a taxi-sharing app, and a sports marketplace including many others in the past.
After building all of these, we decided that we wanted to build something that solved our own problems as a developer. And one of the biggest problems we were facing was writing the front-end code from scratch.
We thought what if we can automate the conversion of design to code And that’s how Locofy was born.
Why did you decide to launch Locofy on the product hunt? What were your goals for the launch? Is it brand awareness, getting new signups or any other metric?
We started building Locofy in December and by June we had a couple of iterations. What we needed was feedback about our product. We wanted engineers and designers to test our product and give feedback.
It’s all about getting feedback, improving the product and iterating it faster. So the goal of our Product Hunt launch was to get more users to try the product and get their feedback.
The Big Bang Strategy 🧠
What was your launch strategy?
We researched about hunters and finalized one.
We gave a heads-up about our launch on Reddit communities, Developer communities and other relevant forums like Hacker News, FB groups etc.
We sent a mail to our existing users about our upcoming Product Hunt launch and asked for support.
We reached out to our personal networks and other Product Hunt groups.
I think most of your launch success will depend on the problem you are solving.
The Big Bang Day 📅
What’s your action plan on the launch day?
We responded to visitors’ comments and feedback on Product Hunt.
We sent emails in batches based on the subscriber time zones.
We messaged people who showed interest in our heads-up post and asked for support.
Our product team made sure that everything worked fine throughout the whole day.
The Big Bang Numbers 🔥
Could you share some numbers from your launch?
Visitors - 2500
Signups - 2000
You launched Locofy as a free beta on Product Hunt. Do you think that helped you get more signups?
Yeah, Definitely.
We wanted feedback, so to get more feedback you need more visitors to try your product. And free version makes it easy to test our product.
The Big Bang Advice 🗣️
What are the 3 advice you give for people who are launching on Product Hunt?
Give it your best, but don’t be disheartened if your launch didn’t go well.
Rather than focusing on how to get upvotes, try to find the relevant communities and the right audience for your product.
Talk to the Product Hunt community. Reply to their comments, answer their questions, and get their feedback.
How to crack Product Hunt if you don’t have a big audience on Social Media?
Believe in the problem you are solving. If only 2 people are using your product, make sure that they will share your product with their peers.
Set your expectations right. Don’t go for upvotes. Go for feedback, users and brand awareness.
Thanks a lot, Honey for sharing all your launch strategies
