🎤 Interview
How did we get into the Indiehacking space and start building LaunchPedia?
We both initially started our journey in the online space as notion creators.
Being marketers by profession, we noticed a lack of notion templates in the digital marketing space. So we started building and shipping building social media templates for notion.
During this process, one of our notion products, Drotion, did exceptionally well on the product hunt and eventually ended up getting acquired on microaquire.
We learnt a lot about product launches in this journey and wanted to help other makers who are launching. That's how we came up with the idea of LaunchPedia.
When did we start planning for LaunchPedia’s Product Hunt launch?
We built LaunchPedia during the Christmas weekend of 2022. And we started planning for the launch the very next day.
The Big Bang Plan 🧠
What was our product launch plan?
Create a coming soon page
Create content around LaunchPedia and share the coming soon page
Promote LaunchPedia on Twitter, IndieHackers and Product Hunt discussions
Find out communities to share the Product Hunt launch on Reddit, Whatsapp and Facebook
Work on Product Hunt assets - Thumbnail GIF, Product images, Tagline, Description, and First comment.
Work on Launch tweets and posts
How did we create buzz for the launch?
Strategy 1:
We first created a coming soon page for LaunchPedia on Product Hunt
Then we wrote an article on “How we built LaunchPedia using WordPress” on our blog and added an exit intent popup that requested visitors to follow our coming soon page.
Once that was done, we started sharing the blog on all no code & wordpress communities and platforms.
Strategy 2:
We shared our website URL on Reddit and asked for tool suggestions and feedback from the community.
Also, we picked one tools category from LaunchPedia every day and started sharing all the tools in them on Product Hunt discussions and relevant communities.
Strategy 3:
We built LaunchPedia in public on Twitter.
We shared every update about our Product Hunt launch on Twitter.
Through the exit internet popup installed on our website, we were able gather 100+ followers for our coming soon page using the 3 strategies mentioned above.
